My Application is simply the Best! (better than all the rest)
The Basics

Name: Alix

Age range (13-15, 16-19, 20-24, 25+): 20-24

Favorite character: Harry Potter of course! He's just so brave and awesome and totally cute squeeee! ...right you know I'm just shitting with you. This question is sort of akin to asking me what my favorite band is, or food, or tv show. BUT... I think the final answer has got to be Fred Weasley. Because who doesn't love a redhead with more energy and ingenuity than Einstein on Red Bull? Important to note that Fred and George, while they make a fantastically terrible twosome, are in fact individuals. And I adore them both from the bottom of my heart, but Fred wins. He's the more aggressive and outgoing of the two. Plus in Goblet of Fire he has the better hair.

Least favorite character: Pansy Friggin Parkinson. For sheer irony, I will now use my Pansy icon to post this application. (What? It's a nice icon!) Anyway, Pansy is... a bitch, quite simply. She's just sort of this simpering sniggering little nitwit. I mean, I know people write fanfic that makes her more substantial, and that I can take. But in the books.. ugh. I can't abide people who live their whole life getting joy out of putting others down.

Favorite Non-Harry Potter related fandom: My big obnoxious painful obsession with J-Pop idol group Arashi, and in particular Jun Matsumoto. My ipod is stuffed full of Arashi PVs and Jun's tv dramas. It is a matter of shame for me to be completely enamored with what is basically a boy band, but I can't help it, I'm hooked.

What is your pet peeve?: People adding unnecessary words into their speech pattern. Most commonly this is manifested in the word "like" being inserted into a sentence every other word. I'm occasionally guilty of this one myself. One girl I know ends every clause with "or whatever". It makes me twitch.

The Deeper Stuff

Five years from now you are diagnosed with a terminal illness. It can be cured by a single pill that costs $5,000 dollars and is not covered by insurance. How would you go about getting the medication? Paypal donation site! I've got a particular community of people in mind when I say this, and it's not necessarily my closest friends. At home there's this group of us who went to High School together and then branching out from that, all sort of held together by local music. Friends in bands, the appreciators and supporters and friends, you know. Anyway... we suffered a really crushing blow the summer after I graduated High School when our friend Sam and his girlfriend died, and I've never seen a community of people pull together so strongly. So I feel like that group of friends and acquaintances, even if they're not particularly close to me, are just a really strong and supportive group, and they'd all be willing to chip in to help any way they could. I'd have the money in no time.

Your house is burning down - all people and pets are out safely. You are able to save one item. What is it and why? All right, I had this whole thing written about how I had to save my computer... and then I realized that was pretty weak. I could rebuild my music library, most of my photography is online somewhere... I adore my library but books are replaceable, and I keep a list online of all the books I own.. hm... Here is where I get to cheat and get 2 items for the price of one. First of all, my GORGEOUS Fender Jazz Bass, one of the supreme loves of my life, totally rad in every way. And second, my writing binder, which is kept in the front pocket of the gig-bag I keep my bass in. That binder has pretty much everything I've written that I liked since 7th grade, and it stays with my bass for when I write songs.

You find a wallet in a parking lot. It has $1,000 dollars cash in it and a driver's license. You look at the license and realize it belongs to a co-worker you speak to on a daily basis. What do you do? Man... I could really use $1,000... there's an interesting thought process to this one. I kind of went "well... I could take the money and then return the wallet and say I found it that way..." But frankly? $1,000 is too much to steal. If it was like $20, I'd be tempted. But my co-worker would certainly miss 1k, and would probably need it pretty badly. So I'd to the "right thing" and turn it in. Hell, they might be so pleased that they'd treat me to dinner or something, so everybody wins.

You've been given $100,000 dollars. If you can use it all within one hour you will be given one million dollars. What do you do? One hour? That's the hard part. I feel like mortgage payments would take longer than an hour to get sorted out, especially on 2 houses.... Sooo.... I'd donate the 100k to muscular dystrophy research. Then with the chill mil I could take care of my parents. And eventually buy myself some shoes.

You see a famous person in the lobby of a busy movie theater and no one else has noticed him/her. What do you do? It really depends on the person... I've always tried to be pretty chill when I've met celebrities, but sometimes I just can't help but fangirl. Honestly though, man, celebs deserve their privacy. I don't buy that whole limelight thing where it's their choice to be harassed. Unless it was someone I was a HUGE HUGE HUGE fan of, frankly, I'd just leave him/her alone. Let him/her munch their popcorn and enjoy the day.

You come upon a wishing well and toss a coin in to make a wish. Your wish is granted. What did you wish for? I'm one of those people who always has a hard time making wishes. The way I see it, I've got things pretty good. I don't hover at the edge of wishing wells and kiss coins for luck and wish for all my troubles to be whisked away. So if one day a wish I made did come true? I'd probably end up with a new pair of Pumas or a year's supply of black and white film. I just wish on whims, so you never know.

You're 70 years old and writing your autobiography. What is the title and why would people read it? Hmm.... well, considering I don't typically look further into the future than what movie I'm gonna watch on saturday night, this isn't exactly angel food cake for me. Let's go with "The Poetry and Rock n Roll". My life, the way I see it going, seems pretty standard. Graduate, get a job as a teacher, get myself a house and a couple of great danes... I think the thing in my life where I really want to shake things up is in education. I'm gonna teach high school English and I want to do it by breaking boundaries and pulling out the stops. I wanna use pop culture all the time. I want my students reading contemporary works, not just the classics. I want them to create whatever they want, to know that writing isn't about formulas and rules. Field trips to rock concerts, analyzing Tom Waits songs for homework, stuff like that. So, if life goes as I hope it does, I think an autobiography of mine would be of interest to educators, hopefully seeing how I managed to unsettle a few foundations.

You have been gifted with the chance to actually perform a magical spell. In front of you stands your greatest love, your worst enemy, and a pile of inanimate objects ready to be used in your spell. Which spell do you allow yourself to use and why have you chosen that spell? I read this question on thought, well, I don't really have any enemies... so that sort of wipes out all the nasty stuff. Shame, some of the nasty stuff is fun... anyway. Then I thought... who is my greatest love? And I think that's gotta be my brother. My brother needs a lot... there's a lot I wish I could do for him, but there's not a spell that could give him everything he needs. So I think I'd have t settle for a cheering charm, cuz I just want him to be happy :) AWWW SAPPY. *gag*

You find a magic lamp, rub it, and out pops a Genie. You are given the chance to relive and change one experience in your past. What do you change (if any) and why? It's a shame this can't apply to an event in someone else's past... alas, no bringing back the dead. Hmm... I dunno, I'l content with my past, and I've had a lot of pretty serious answers so I'm just gonna go for something nice and shallow and materialistic. I'd go back and not buy the digital camera I have now, save that paycheck and the one after it, and but a bigger better camera, some kind of canon digital SLR.

Yes/No Questions
Mark each word with a yes or a no as it applies to you. Feel free to explain each answer (not mandatory)

Logical: No, not really.
Emotional: Yes, Absolutely! I'm vaguely hot headed and prone to severe mood swings, they're fantastic. Usually I'm just kinda quiet and solitary if I'm upset though.
Intelligent: Yes, I like to think so. I'm kind of a hands on learner though, I'm not really like, studious.
Fair: Yes, Pretty much
Witty: Um... Yes, I guess I have my moments.
Creative: Yes yes YES. Whether there's any talent in my creativity? I couldn't really say. But I'm definitely creative.
Cunning: No, not really
Ambitious: Um.. slightly? I don't have very lofty goals for myself, but I want to achieve something.
Brave: Ehh... I'd say yes. I'm not going to try and fight a bear or anything, but I'd say I'm not afraid to take risks.
Loyal: Absolutlely. Friends and family man, that's what's important.
Honest: Yeah.. well, I lie a lot, but not when it counts.
Trustworthy: Yup, I'd say so.
Impulsive: HAHAHA... ohgod yes.
Mean: No? Kinda? Well.. I'm sort of playfully snarky with my friends and quietly snarky to myself with strangers, but I'm really a very nice person, I swear, caring and giving and all that.
Cruel: No, cruel I am not.
Dishonest: I guess see honest. I'm not dishonest when it counts.
Observant: Eh... this is kind of half and half.
Stubborn: Absolutely. I am my mother's daughter, after all.
Friendly: Yeah. I'm not as outgoing as I used to be, but I'm a pretty congenial gal.
Kind: Yes. At least I certainly try to be.
Compassionate: Most of the time. Sometimes frustration makes compassion hard.
Hard-working: Ehhh... no, not really. I get stuff done that needs to be done, but usually at the last possible minute.
Lazy: More often than not, yes.
Outgoing: Sort of. I'm loud and fun in company I'm comfortable with, but I'm not too hot on new people and strangers

And finally, how did you find us? HG and Juppy's journals.

I was stuck between Gryffindor and Hufflepuff until I read the same sentence that ascendingflame referenced. Then my vote went straight to Gryffindor. As much as I'd love to have you with me over in Hufflepuff, You're a Gryff just a bit more. :)
